Student Absence Line: (07) 3814 9360

It is compulsory for children to be attending school until the age of 16, and it is a legal requirement that they attend school attend every day and be on time. There is an understanding that there are times that children may be absent from school due to illness or family reasons and it is important that the school is provided information on the reason for the ansences. The school is obliged to investigate unexplained absences.

If your child/ren is absent for any reason we ask parents and/or care givers to contact the school either on the day of absence (preferred) or on the day of return and provide a reason for your child's absence.

There are a number of ways that parents/caregivers can contact the school and inform the school of their child/rens absence.

1. SMS If your child is absent and we have not been advised, a SMS will be sent to your mobile. Please reply immediately to the SMS explaining the reason. If you do not reply, we will be in contact with you.

2. Phone Parents can call the school on 3814 9333 or telephoning the school's Student Absence Line on (07) 3814 9360. This phone line is available 24 hours a day.  Please leave the following information:

  • Child's full name (please spell surname)

Early departures (signing out) and Collection of children during school time

At times, there are reasons that children are required to leave school during the day e.g. doctor's appointment.

If a child has a medical appointment please contact the school and tell the office that a parent/carer will be picking up a child/ren for an appointment at a particular time. This way when a parent/carer comes to collect the child, they are in the office waiting and easlly signed out and collected, this process makes this easier as if a parent comes to collect their child and it is lunch time it is difficult to locate students during the actual lunch break.

Early departures due to an illness, the office would of contacted the parent and they will collect their student from the office. Early departures for a family emergency, the office to help process an early departure as soon as possible.

Identification can be required by any persons collecting students during school hours and the adult must be on the student's emergency contact list.
