Kruger State School has a large population of students from a variety of cultural backgrounds, where English is a second language. The English as a second language (EALD) program fosters self-esteem and helps students develop English literacy and language proficiency.
This assists them in realising their full social and intellectual potential. We currently have one full-time EALD specialist teacher and an experienced teacher aide who also provides bilingual support.
We work with students newly arrived from overseas, as well as children from migrant families living in Australia. We also design learning experiences to enable more advanced second language learners to cope with the demands of mainstream classes.
