In today’s society it is important that we recognise that there are times when it is appropriate and beneficial for students to have access to a mobile phone. Students may, for example, need to contact parents in emergencies or to confirm a collection time after school.
Mobile phones need to be handed in to office staff when students arrive at school and then collected in the afternoon. Other electronic devices such as i-pods, MP3 players, Nintendo DS, digital cameras, electronic games and other mini sound systems and should not be brought to school to avoid loss or damage and disruption to the school.
Parents can contact children via the school office.
Students should ensure that their mobile phones or other devices are always stored in the school office.
It is important that students display courtesy, consideration and respect for others when using a mobile phone outside of school hours.
Mobile phones or other devices are brought to school at the individual student’s risk. No liability will be accepted by the school in the event of the loss, theft or damage of any device unless it can be proved that the loss, theft or damage resulted from the school’s negligence.
This policy also applies to students during excursions, camps and extra-curricular activities.
