Welcome to Kruger Families

Welcome to all Kruger Families
Welcome back to the 2013 school year.  A special welcome to our new families who are joining us for the first time.  I am pleased to welcome you to Kruger State School.  You and your family are now members of the Kruger Team.
This Team consists of a professional and enthusiastic staff; a culturally diverse population that constantly strives to achieve the Kruger Team Expectations of Best Effort, Be Respectful and Be Safe at all times; and a loyal and supportive community.
Thank you for your understanding and support for our closure on Tues 29th January 2013. We had 2 teaching blocks with storm damage.  Fortunately, we acted swiftly and had blowers in on the weekend and, on Tuesday, staff helped with the clean-up and relocation of classrooms.
Welcome New Teachers
Welcome to Dina Amin, Rebecca McKinnon, Ashley Forrest, Zanab Mia, Alison Francis, Natalie Madson, Kerrie Davies - while Nicole Ada is on leave for Term 1, Nicole Collis – while Deirdre Mansfield is on leave until the end of February, Debra Fritz and Sebastian Henley.
Everyday Counts at Kruger State School ……… Be on Time Everyday
Smart Start to 2013
During the first couple of weeks, all students will participate in a Smart Start program to support their higher performance in 2013.  This program is designed to give a head start to the school year.  All students will participate in intense lessons and activities to extend their understandings in English and Maths, set their learning goals for term 1 and be supported to develop positive relationships to set them up for a successful 2013.
No Bus Bell
Please note that we will not have a bus bell at the end of the school day.  This is a result of a review of school Workplace Health and Safety procedures. Students who catch the school bus will be dismissed immediately and will be directed to walk directly to the waiting area.  The bus company has been advised.
Arrival in the morning
If arriving before 8.20 in the morning, students need to wait in the undercover area near the tuckshop.  If they are with a parent, they can wait near the classroom.
School Absence Line
If your child is sick and won’t be attending school, please phone our Absence Line and register the absence:      ABSENCE LINE:    38149360.
Temporary classes
Please be aware that all classes and staffing in Queensland State Schools are temporary until after 8th February, 2013.  During the first 2 weeks, enrolments and classes are being finalised.  On Day 8, (being 7th Feb 2013), all schools will be given their final staffing allocation depending on Day 8 student enrolment.  It may be necessary for classes to be rearranged to accommodate an increase or decrease in predicted enrolments. If your child is affected by this changeover, you will be sent a letter explaining the situation.  Thank you for your understanding.
Year Level Newsletters
Keep a look out for your Year Level Newsletter.  This Newsletter will outline Term 1 Key Learning and Assessment  for your child and also have some information about our upcoming Meet and Greet Sessions.
Meet and Greet
All year levels will be having a Meet and Greet for all families on Tues 19th February 2013 at 2.30 pm.  These sessions explain what your child will be doing at school in 2013.  Teachers will answer any questions that you may have.  It would be great if you could attend.  Details will be in year level newsletters.
Kind Regards
Jody Stehbens
