Kruger Cocs Win Development Cup State Final

Kruger State School from Ipswich are the 2013 NRL Development Cup’s Queensland champions after beating a combined Tully team 26-22 in a see-sawing state final at 1300SMILES Stadium this afternoon.
The two teams, who emerged from the 400 who started the competition, went try for try for most of the game before three straight tries towards the end of the second 25-minute half saw Kruger establish their match-winning lead.
Tully led 6-0 early before two tries from Kruger allowed them to take a two-point lead into half time.
The North Queensland team scored a miraculous try from the second-half restart to return to the lead and they maintained a 16-12 advantage until Kruger’s size and pace out wide took its toll.
Tully still had a chance when they bagged a fourth try with four minutes to go, but the Ipswich school’s defence held firm under pressure to allow them to take the cup back south.
