Focus on: Queensland road safety week

As you may know, Queensland Road Safety Week is coming up 27/8/2018 – 31/8/2018.

Queensland Road Safety Week is a chance for us all to be involved in making our roads safer, including those around our schools, especially our kids.

Each day of the week will focus on different road safety behaviour. On Tuesday 28/8/2018, the emphasis is on Pedestrians, one of our most vulnerable road users, including our children, and Thursday 30/8/2018 is on Bicycles, which is a particularly important message for school communities

During the week, our colleagues at Join the Drive will be encouraging the whole community to ‘Speak up for road safety’ and refresh their road rules knowledge.

Communities, schools, sporting groups and workplaces are encouraged to support the week through hosting local events, sharing information or by simply promoting Queensland Road Safety Week via electronic VMS’s.  A list of the daily themes are as follows:

  • Monday 27/8/2018:  Drivers – Stick to the speed; Phone down – Chin up; Drive Safely;
  • Tuesday 28/8/2018:  Pedestrians – One of our most vulnerable road users; Take care walking near roads;        Never assume a driver or rider has seen you;
  • Wednesday 29/8/2018:  Driving Heavy Vehicles – Driving a heavy vehicle requires extra care and attention; Share safely with other drivers;
  • Thursday 30/8/2018:  Bicycles – Stay wider of the rider; Share the road safely;
  • Friday 31/8/2018:  Motorcycles – Motorcycle riders are among our most vulnerable road users

There’s many ways to get involved in Queensland Road Safety Week including joining the conversations on social media (Join the Drive Facebook and TMR Facebook).
